Domino's Pizza vs. S&P 500


Domino's Pizza, Inc (NYSE:DPZ) shares reached an all time high this week of $35.30. Stockdiagnostics upgraded DPZ to a "1" ranking on October 16,2009, after the company reported 3rd quarter 2009 numbers for the period ending September 30,2009.
Since the upgrade at $8.40, shares are up 400% as of yesterday's close of $33.42. S&P 500 index over this same period is up 11%.

Apple vs. S&P 500


Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) closed yesterday @ $388.81 on volume of 12 million shares. AAPL was upgraded to a "1" ranking by Stockdiagnostics on May 14,2007, after the company reported  positive Operational Cash Flow for the 2nd quarter 2007, for the period ending March 31,2007.  AAPL has been ranked a "1" for 19 consecutive quarters.
Since the May 14,2007 upgrade at $110, shares are up 350%. Meanwhile over this same period the Standard & Poor 500 Index is down 20%.

Warren Buffett, who already owns The Washington Post,  announced today he is buying publishing company Omaha World-Herald and several other daily and weekly papers in Nebraska and Iowa.

Real Estate prices continue to fall, foreclosures are rising, and consumers with weak credit can't get approved to buy no matter how attractive homes may be selling for these days.

Newspaper and Website sells for $110 million

Uncertainty in the marketplace has left investors searching for good long term investments.  I continue to be bullish on Media (content) companies for the long term. A third deal in less than a week was announced this morning as San Diego paper (and it's website) were purchased for $110 million.
